How to Review and Sign Charts
Learn how to review and sign charts in the EMRG system, including filtering by status and completing the signing process.
How to Review and Sign Charts
This guide is specifically for overseeing physicians who need to review and sign charts that have been marked for review by staff members or other providers.
For non-physicians: If you need to create charts and mark them for review, please use our How to Create Charts and Consultation Notes for Patients guide instead.
Step-by-Step Process
1. Navigate to Charts
Click on "Charts" in the Side Navigation bar under Dashboard > Charts.
Charts Menu
2. Filter Charts by Status
You can filter by status of the charts, so selecting "Needs Review" or "Draft" will show the charts that may require physician signature.
Filter by Status
3. Open Chart for Review
You can select the three dots on the right and "View" or just select the entire row in the table to open the chart.
Open Chart
4. Review and Sign Chart
Review the chart contents and then click the green "Sign Chart" button in the bottom right to sign.
Sign Chart
5. Confirmation and Status Update
You will get a green success message that says "Chart signed successfully" and then the status will change to Signed.
Note: If you still have your filter set to "Needs Review" that signed chart will no longer appear. Change the filter to "All Status" if you'd like to see the signed charts again.

What Happens Next
Once a chart is signed, it becomes part of the patient's permanent medical record. The chart status will change from "Needs Review" or "Draft" to "Signed", and it will no longer appear in the filtered views for unsigned charts.
